DISNEYLAND (ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA)

Disneyland was AMAZING for food allergies. I sort of knew it would be since we had had a great experience with Tokyo Disneyland a few years back, but I was still blown away with how well they were able to cater for our boys. We felt like “normal” people being able to walk up to a restaurant or cafe or even treat stand, and know that there would be something that the boys would be able to have, and that the restaurant would have all the ingredients ready for me to review. There were queues for some fancier places such as the Bayou restaurant (that faces the inside of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride) that required advance bookings - didn’t realise that! However there were plenty of counter service restaurants and we were able to drop by to get something to eat quite casually - whenever when it suited us to stop and have a break.

The allergies our boys have are to: nuts, dairy, sesame, some seafood (including white fish).

Disneyland either have an allergy menu already printed and/or will have the chef come out to speak to you. They take it very seriously.

It was overall a magical holiday for us!!

We ate at:

- Smokehouse (California Adventure)

- French Market (Disneyland - New Orleans Square)

- Pizza Planet (Disneyland - Tomorrowland)

- Flo’s V8 (California Adventure)

We also had our fair share of churros which were dairy-free, and ice-blocks from the ice cream carts scattered throughout the park! We also had amazing dairy-free fruit based soft serves at the Adorable Snowman at California Adventure.

WE STAYED AT

We stayed at Disneyland Hotel, because with 3 young children in tow we knew we may need to let them have a nap during the day. Disneyland Hotel were able to grant our request for microwave for our room for medical reasons ie the boys’ allergies, and I ordered online groceries to be delivered via Instacart - you need to specify if you will meet them in the lobby or if you want the food left with the bell desk (take care though because some refrigerated items may spoil if there is not enough room at the bell desk fridge).

By the way…

This is the first time I have blogged on this website in ages! Over the past couple of years I have mosrtly posted on my Instagram, and also a lot has happened over the past couple of years! Including that we had our third baby, and then there was that thing called Covid and the associated lockdown and home schooling! So I will have to come back to add/fix links and make it as swish as the other pages. Hope you still find the info useful, and for any other allergy parents interested in collaborating, let me know!

Staying at Disneyland Hotel made it very convenient, especially as we were there over several days.

Toddler holding some dairy-free churros!

There were ice-block stands throughout the park that had a variety of non-dairy ice-blocks to choose from.

We managed to catch the band while they played outside the Sleeping Beauty Castle.
