Grill'd (Sydney, Melbourne)

Grill’d are fantastic with allergies, and ever Grill’d I’ve been to in NSW and Victoria (and we’ve been to quite a few!) take allergies very seriously - by this I mean, they listen to allergy dietary requirements and actually try to cater for them (as opposed to other takeaway places where sometimes staff serving are uncertain and just tell you there may be traces of everything in everything). Obviously there is the risk of cross contamination, but so far (touch wood), we haven’t had any reactions (even while my wheat-allergic child sits on one side of the table with me, eating his gluten-free bun covered in sesame seeds, and his sesame-allergic brother sits on the other side with my husband, eating his wheat bun (that does not have sesame seeds). We tended to share burgers with the kids when they were younger but as they got older, we got them their own kids meals. I really need to get a photo of my burger but usually I’m too busy tending to the kids to remember to take a photo (either that or digging in to my own delicious burger!). My favourite is the Sir Truffle wagyu burger. We usually order all burgers without cheese just to make life less complicated as one of my children is allergic to dairy, but sometimes I ask for my truffle mayo on the side (just for my husband and I), and order tomato sauce for the kids.

Normally I try to keep our meals free from all allergens but with different allergies it sometimes gets tricky!

So that’s how we’ve managed it so far!

P.S. My kids love the regular fries and the sweet potato fries.
